GOLD for the anti-bullying policy of the Imelda Primary School!

Primary school Imelda from Molenbeek-Saint-Jean was declared the winner of the 17th ‘Bullying, that’s impossible!’ campaign yesterday, at the start of the ‘Week against bullying’. The Flemish Network Choose Color Against Bullying selects 10 schools every year that excel through their exceptional anti-bullying policy. Imelda eventually received the main prize, which includes a cash prize of € 2,500.

Naturally, children, teachers, employees, parents, the KatOBA school board and many others involved were very pleased with this beautiful award. School director Sophie Van Kerkhove was also beaming: “This is a very nice prize, because it touches on the core of what we as a school want to mean for our students. Children who grow up here and go to school do not always have it easy. Social skills are a challenge for many. As a school, we see it as a core task to help them on their way. This requires a great deal of effort from the school team and all those involved, but also leads to results. The fact that this is so explicitly named and appreciated today is a compliment to our team, but also to all our students: they finally made it happen. I am very proud of them!”

The school has also already thought about how it will spend the €2,500 cash prize. New equipment for the playground will be purchased, and a fun outing at the end of the school year is also on the wish list.

There was also a lot of press coverage for this extraordinary achievement. View some articles and reports here:
