KatOBA celebrates at the Nieuwe Graanmarkt!

On Wednesday 21 September, the flags and balloons were displayed on the Nieuwe Graanmarkt in Brussels. KatOBA celebrated, and that should be known! Some previous attempts to inaugurate the new building had to be called off due to the corona pandemic, but fortunately a postponement did not become a cancellation.

At 11 am, an academic session took place in the large meeting room of the stately building that now serves as the Brussels headquarters of the central KatOBA services. Those in attendance were addressed by Roger Haest, Chairman of the Governing Body; Sven Gatz, Brussels Minister responsible for Education and School Construction; Emmanuelle De Sart, Architectural Heritage Restoration Manager at the Cultural Heritage Directorate and the tandem Griet Blondiau / Nancy De Boey, general manager and co-director general policy of vzw KatOBA. In between there were musical intermezzos by students from different schools.

The attendees also received a copy of the KatOBA ‘Inspiration Book’, which was also distributed to all staff members of the KatOBA schools.

In the afternoon, visitors could take a virtual tour of the building. Food trucks and reception tents were also provided. So it became a real party at the KatOBA (ChateauBA?) house! It was a more than successful event!
